Soybean Research Study Results - 2004

I Can Get Better Soybean Yields
Many factors help soybeans reach their yield potential. A proven fertilizer plan combining pelletized lime and potash is one of them.

For over ten years, the Mineral Processing Companies have investigated soybean response to a range of pelletized lime applications. The results have been overwhelming that a simple treatment of potash and Pellet Lime has consistently improved soybean yields. In the six years of the current study, the average net yield difference with Pellet Lime and potash is over 12 bushels per acre per year with an estimated profit increase of $36/acre over the non-treated control.
The following data represent the average yield and return from the past six years of testing.

*Soybeans $5/B; Potash $9.00/cwt; MAP $14.5/cwt; Pellet Lime $4.5/cwt. Soybean yields in 2004 exceeded everyone’s expectations. Our research location in Catlin, Illinois recorded soybean yields in excess of 75 bushels/acre while Martinsville exceeded 65 bushel/acre - incredible! This year showed no statistical difference in either location’s treatments although the Martinsville trial treatments containing pelletized limestone still out yielded all other treatments.

LONG-TERM RESULTS
The 6-year average yield for potash and pelletized lime is over 12 bushels an acre higher than the control. That represents over $36.00/acre net return.

Alfalfa...
Pellet Lime increased harvested tonnage in all test years; crude protein content is significantly higher in the treated 2003 trials. Tests show improved seeding establishment and early plant health with Pellet Lime.

Soybeans...
Nine out of ten years soybeans treated with Pellet Lime significantly out yielded non-treated soybeans and netted big profits.

Wheat...
Pellet Lime applications with wheat successfully increased wheat quality and yield.

Corn...
Test results show a positive response to broadcast Pellet Lime.

Grass/Legume...
A 200 lb/ A Pellet Lime application out-yielded the control by over 2 ton/acre in our first year's testing.
