2001 Corn Response Data & Analysis

Test Notes: Soil test history Fall '98: CEC 20; OM 3.2%; soil water pH 6; P2O5 13ppm; K2O 120ppm; Tamy silty clay loam; All products spring applied; 3 replications.
Comments
Presented by Dr. Gary Tuxhorn
The Research & Development farm was wet early, then turned very dry. I was surprised and pleased with how the corn held up through the drought, and yielded. I am confident that the yield differences in the corn are true yield differences due to fertilization.

Value Added Corn Response and Analysis
2 hybrids with Value-Added Traits / 2001
Value added crops or crops bred for specific traits are commonly noted to have less vigor and are more subject to environmental influences that can result in yield drag. The objective of this experiment is to examine the potential of boosting value added crop yields with Pellet Lime.

Test Notes: CEC 8.8; soil water pH 6.6; P2O5 41ppm; K2O 145ppm; silty clay loam; 3 replications; Randomized Complete Block Design.
Discussion
Yield variances were noted with the two rates of Pellet Lime. The 300 pound rate produced more noticeable differences than the 150 pound rate. This test shows Pellet Lime increased yields in value added crops. The premium paid for the higher yielding value crop will improve net dollar income.

Alfalfa...
Pellet Lime increased harvested tonnage in all test years; crude protein content is significantly higher in the treated 2003 trials. Tests show improved seeding establishment and early plant health with Pellet Lime.
Soybeans...
Nine out of ten years soybeans treated with Pellet Lime significantly out yielded non-treated soybeans and netted big profits.
Wheat...
Pellet Lime applications with wheat successfully increased wheat quality and yield.
Corn...
Test results show a positive response to broadcast Pellet Lime.
Grass/Legume...
A 200 lb/ A Pellet Lime application out-yielded the control by over 2 ton/acre in our first year's testing. |
