Corn Response Data & Analysis

The next two experiments illustrate data from both Illinois and Iowa. The fertility methods used were different at each location. The Illinois plots received a corn maintenance application of P/K fertilizer whereas the Iowa location received a standard recommendation for a corn/soybean rotation. Nitrogen rates were adjusted to provide 150 pounds of total nitrogen on all plots. Irrigation was applied in August and September at the Martinsville location.

Treatments (Cedar Falls)
1 Untreated Control
2 Pellet Lime 300 lbs, DAP 200 lbs, Potash 200 lbs
3 DAP 200 lbs, Potash 200 lbs
Treatments (Martinsville)
1 Pellet Lime 250 lbs, MAP 125 lbs, Potash 100 lbs
2 MAP 125 lbs, Potash 100 lbs
3 Pellet Lime 250 lbs
4 Untreated Control

Comments:
Based on local University standards soil fertility levels are considered "high" at each of these locations. Soil water pH levels are not considered to be a yield limiting factor. These two studies provide information that show corn is responsive to broadcast applications of Pellet Lime.

Alfalfa...
Pellet Lime increased harvested tonnage in all test years; crude protein content is significantly higher in the treated 2003 trials. Tests show improved seeding establishment and early plant health with Pellet Lime.

Soybeans...
Nine out of ten years soybeans treated with Pellet Lime significantly out yielded non-treated soybeans and netted big profits.

Wheat...
Pellet Lime applications with wheat successfully increased wheat quality and yield.

Corn...
Test results show a positive response to broadcast Pellet Lime.

Grass/Legume...
A 200 lb/ A Pellet Lime application out-yielded the control by over 2 ton/acre in our first year's testing.
